since school education began we have had homework, homework, homework, Have we been wasting our time. Well new scientific studies suggest that homework decreases grades. It increases stress levels effects their attention in school and hardly ever helps the student this is not what we want. We all know that homework is a burden on children and teenagers but is it useful? Well to help teenagers get good grades they need a refreshed mentality and a want to learn. Homework does not do this .but what does it do?

Well nothing constructive really, homework takes up 314 hours of a teenagers school year which in that time students could of had more sleep and do things what they want to do so they are well rested for school. At the GCSE stage there is 6-8 hours of homework a week on average. And about 5 hours of that homework is pointless in the aid of better grades. When asking teachers opinion they said "homework is set because the teachers feel they have to, even though it's probably isn't productive or helpful." . When we ask students we obviously found a different opinion. They said things like "we could spend more time for revision of lessons or work we find helpful", "I think that homework is helpful but if we get a lot then it can be quite tedious and the homework can be extremely varied in hardness". So from teenagers view homework can be useful but hardly at any time.

There is not just homework which improves your organization skills they are other activities. The main argument for teachers all these years has been if its not useful it improves organization and character building .Now teenagers argue their is not only homework which does this their are others such things as scouts ,outside sport training and music lessons .I think we all know outside activities are more fun and if their just good as homework great. Homework now seems to be not productive it’s just polluting teenagers and kids minds.

They say homework develops character gives you more self reliance skills but I think we all know that’s a complete lie. Many don't even the organization skills in the first place so the find it difficult to develop their organization skills. Also from are survey we found that students found it alot easy to do their homework with help and prefer it done with someone than on thier own.

Finally When students are given homework that are most of time to hard for them or takes to long and they don't do their homework to their full potential and teachers get the wrong impression of the student. When teachers set the homework they mainly take it in to account for their grades but
